What Is Heavenly Tribulation?

Heavenly Tribulation (天劫, tiānjié) is the heavenly test that cultivators must face when advancing to higher realms. It’s essentially:

• Heaven’s disapproval of mortals seeking immortality
• Natural lightning/elemental attacks designed to destroy the unworthy
• A filter separating true cultivators from pretenders

“To defy the heavens, one must survive the heavenly tribulation.”

Why Heaven Sends Tribulation

1. Maintaining Balance

Heaven doesn’t want too many immortals. The tribulation filters out the weak.

2. Testing Resolve

A cultivator’s Dao Heart (道心) is tested. Only those with unwavering will can pass.

3. Punishing the Arrogant

Those who cultivate too quickly or recklessly face stronger tribulations.

4. Cosmic Law

The universe has rules. Breaking through without paying the price violates those rules.
